Early Pregnancy Yoga

In those early days of pregnancy, the outside world may not even know you are pregnant  but the changes that are taking place to your inside world shouldn’t be understimated! 

You probably don’t need me to tell you that this is a time of huge hormonal fluctuations and physical changes to your body (which can often result in nausea and extreme fatigue).  There can often be an awful lot to ‘get your head around’ too when you just find out you are pregnant…and it is common to swing from fear, to elation, to disbelief and back again a number of times a day!

Most pregnancy yoga classes (including mine) are not really suitable for women under 16 weeks of pregnancy.  This is because extra care is needed when undertaking many of the physical yoga practices that are very beneficial later in pregnancy.  Having said that, Yoga has a great deal to offer at this time.  

Yoga practices can ease some of the common symptoms of early pregnancy and there are  a range of safe postures that can be practiced under the supervision of a trained yoga teacher.  As importantly, breathing and relaxation techniques are very powerful tools to get you off to the best start in your pregnancy. 

I therefore offer one-to-one pregnancy yoga sessions designed specifically for those women who are under 16 weeks pregnant.  These sessions offer a range of physical, breathing and relaxation techniques to celebrate the start of your pregnancy.  I suggest 2 or 3 sessions during this time and I provide handouts to supplement the course.
