Mother nurture (mums only)
Where: Yorkshire Yoga. Knaresbourgh
When: Please get in touch to be included on the waiting list.
Who are they for: all mothers, particular focus on mothers within the first 2 years after the birth of a child.
These classes are focused on the needs of postnatal women. They have a dual focus – regaining strength and enabling deep, restorative relaxation.
We all know that along with the pure joy of early motherhood, it can be physically and emotionally draining. The Mother Nurture classes are designed to give you some time-out and reboot your energy levels. They are on a Saturday morning, so that hopefully you can get someone to look after your baby and you can create a space for your yoga practice.
The Mother Nurture classes are a range of asana (posture), pranayama (breathing), mantra (chanting) and relaxation practices. We focus on regaining core strength in the abdominal and pelvic floor muscles, and practices to ease sore backs and improving posture which can suffer with carrying and lifting babies and young children.
There is a good mix of strong posture work to help tone your body, and deep relaxation practices to help restore your energy levels.
It is recommended that if you are new to yoga, that you attend at least one or two Mother Nurture classes. This will mean you can get to grips with the basic postures and breathing techniques without your baby, so that they come to you more easily in the mother and baby yoga classes.
